Dr. Gil Winkelman is a Naturopathic Physician (ND), speaker, and writer dedicated to helping people restore balance between the heart, body, brain, and spirit so healing can unfold more naturally. His work centers on a simple but often overlooked truth: what we live through—stress, trauma, beliefs, and meaning—shapes how the body functions. In other words, biography becomes biology. He works with patients to inspire awareness, acceptance, and hope throughout the healing journey.
With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Gil helps patients move beyond symptom management to understand how nervous system patterns, unconscious beliefs, and long-held coping strategies influence health. His approach emphasizes awareness, acceptance, and relationship with the body rather than force or struggle, supporting lasting change through small, meaningful shifts in physiology and felt sense.
Dr. Gil has worked extensively with individuals and families navigating migraines, depression, anxiety, arthritis, autism spectrum conditions, autoimmune conditions, OCD, insomnia, ADD/ADHD, Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), and traumatic brain injuries. Through this work, he has seen how psychological stress, identity, and unresolved experiences can become embedded in the body—and how healing often begins when these patterns are gently brought into consciousness.
A recognized thought leader in the assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI), Dr. Gil has published widely, treated Veterans with TBI and PTSD, and delivered the keynote address at the 2010 Annual Pacific Northwest Brain Injury Conference hosted by the Brain Injury Association of Oregon. The author of Feel Well, Play Well: Amazing Golf Through Whole Health, Dr. Gil is also a contributing writer for Holistic Primary Care.
Dr. Gil earned his doctorate from the National College of Natural Medicine and holds a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from JFK University. He is trained in LENS Neurofeedback therapy and has completed multiple advanced trainings through the Walsh Research Institute in brain chemistry and mental health. His work integrates medical science with psychological insight, nervous system regulation, and a depth-oriented understanding of healing.
Dr. Gil offers telemedicine consultations worldwide and is licensed in Oregon and Hawaii. He also provides in-person neurofeedback sessions in Honolulu, conveniently located near Ala Moana Mall.
